950 CherryMotes (motes) deployed across a building, drawn from a real link-quality survey. The aim here is an intuition for the scale and behaviour of the network — not a faithful radio simulation.
Synthetic traffic over the measured connectivity graph: point-to-point, broadcast, network-wide flood, or convergecast up a routing tree to a sink.
An 802.15.4 CSMA/CA simulation — random backoff, carrier sensing, ACKs, collisions and capture, played out in simulated microseconds.
The expanding wavefront shells are purely illustrative — they sketch each transmission's interference reach, not a real propagating signal — and the reach itself is only a rough sphere, ignoring the walls and reflections that shape a real channel. Reception is judged by an idealised, all-seeing receiver: a frame's fate is computed from the measured channel and whatever else is on air, so outcomes track link quality rather than a modelled radio front-end.
